Cosplay Contest Rules

This is a translation of the Czech rules. In case of differences between the texts, Czech rules apply.

REGISTRATION

Registration is open from June 9 to July 1, 2025 via the registration form.
The minimum age to register is 15 years.
Minors must provide a signed consent form from a legal guardian to participate.
The number of contestants is limited to 30. In case of high interest, the jury will select participants who will proceed to the second round (on-stage performance).
Both individuals and pairs/trios can register.
The minimum number of registered groups is 3. If fewer apply, group contestants will be allowed to compete individually (but may still perform together on stage).
If a contestant cannot participate, they must cancel via email no later than two days before the festival.
By registering, the participant:
agrees to the use of their photos by Advík,
confirms they have read the contest and festival rules,
accepts responsibility for any damage caused by breaking the rules,
agrees that breaking the rules (even if discovered later) may lead to disqualification, forfeiting any prizes, and possibly being banned from future contests.

The costume must be mostly made by the wearer.
Limited help from others is allowed, but must be disclosed to the jury, and may affect scoring.
You may wear a costume used in another competition, except if it won 1st–3rd place or participated in or qualified for an international competition.
Costumes must not contain sharp items, metal, airsoft, or any real or functional weapons.
Costumes and performances must be appropriate for minors, non-offensive, and free of hate symbols or messages.
Costumes must be based on officially published characters – no original, generic, or unofficial versions allowed.
Purchased clothing, accessories, or props should be used only minimally (e.g., wigs, contact lenses).
Contestants must specify the exact version of the character and provide reference images.
Contestants must be able to move safely in the costume (stairs, narrow halls, stage access).
Photos of the costume in-progress and completed must be submitted by July 24, 2025.

A technical rehearsal will take place Saturday morning (details will be sent to contestants).
Attendance at the rehearsal is mandatory; failure to appear may result in disqualification.
It is not necessary to wear the costume at the rehearsal.
Jury evaluation takes place before the performance:
Similarity to reference – 20%
Craftsmanship/quality – 20%
Techniques used – 10%
On-stage performance evaluation includes:
Character portrayal and skit – 40%
Interaction with host/jury – 10%
(Includes short in-character roleplay when approaching the jury; afterward, contestants describe the costume as themselves.)

Contestants must submit a background image and audio track; a video may also be used during the skit.
The new venue allows colored lighting effects.
All media files must be submitted by July 17, 2025.
Performance duration:
60–120 seconds for individuals
120–180 seconds for groups
Each contestant may bring up to two stage props, each:
Carried by one person
Max weight 10 kg
Reasonable size
Setup/cleanup time max 30 seconds

Only the contestant may be on stage during the performance.
Microphones, tables, and chairs are not allowed.
Props must be provided by the contestant.
It is forbidden to spill liquids, create mess, throw confetti, or use open flames on stage. If unsure about an effect, ask in advance.
Leaving the stage during the performance is not allowed.

The jury will score and select winners for:
1st–3rd place (Jury Award)
1st place Group Award (if the minimum group number is met)
The "Rising Star" award is for beginner cosplayers.
Each juror may also select a personal favorite.
The “Grand Winner” will be chosen by the jury:
They receive the right to be a juror at the next Advík cosplay contest.
Awarded to one contestant either from the winning group or 1st place individual.
(If no group contest occurs, the title goes to the individual 1st place winner.)
Audience Choice Award will be determined via QR code voting.
